SECTION OF DRESS: Islamic Star
A reflection on identity
It was a huge honour to contribute to the vast collection of embroidery on the Red Dress. I chose to create something that was both personal to myself and that also reflected my identity. As a Pakistani Muslim I found no better way to reflect this through stitch than to embroider the Islamic star and cased with in it, something that is a dream of mine to one day reach. Two letters merged as one, the initials of my name and one day the logo of my brand. I used a metallic gold Gütermann thread and I opted for a quick and simple stitch with a little twist quite literally, I began with a back stitch a then twisted around through the surface stitches to create a rope like effect.
