CHRISTINA SHUNG
SECTION OF DRESS: Kite
Childhood memories from home
“I’m currently studying at the Royal School of Needlework and it’s my pleasure to be part of the Red Dress project. I have chosen a kite for my design as it’s a traditional and popular toy in Hong Kong. It’s our childhood memories with family and friends and it represents festival, blessing, luck and happiness”

SUZANNE CHUNG
SECTION OF DRESS: ‘SAU’
A Cantonese character with many meanings
Originally from Hong Kong, Suzanne and her twin sister grew up in Scotland before moving to Hong Kong, Canada and then finally to Swansea.
“‘Sau’ sounds like the word for embroidery and is synonymous with beauty, also meaning elegance which characterises and embodies feminity. It means putting forth flowers which is why I chose to use flowers like the woven rose and the fishbone stitch for leaves and greenery”.
