Rabia Naza-Rhainie
AFGHANISTAN / 2010SECTION OF DRESS: Geometric patterns
Poignant words of healing
Kirstie met Rabia whilst tutoring at the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace. Rabia was one of 15 Foundation students who stitched a panel on the newly created dress, Rabia’s embroidery was to fill 2 symmetrical panels on the front of the bodice.
Rabia’s work is bold and colourful, a combination of eye-catching geometric designs alongside a touching inscription in Farsi (Persian):
“ I have hope... even when I’m alone and in darkness”
