SECTION OF DRESS: Copacabana motif
Modernist wave pattern from home
I fell in love with embroidery when I was 8 years old. It was when I saw my mother and aunt embroidering a mantle for my brother.
My red dress stitching inspiration came from the modernist pavements of Copacabana Promenade, located at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was designed by Roberto Burle Marx in 1970. As an Architect, I appreciate a good design. The wave pattern, made of Portuguese stones in black and white, became recognised worldwide.
